=== Status ===

Since the 2015Q3 report, organization of the conference has really gotten underway. All chairs have been chosen. Email addresses for chairs have been set up. A final timetable for submissions, reviewing etc. has been drawn up. The general chair, program chairs, local chairs and other chairs have all been working effectively together, and everything seems to be on track. The CFP is out and the short paper deadline is drawing near. A few minor points for discussion are mentioned below.

Remaining key tasks are:
* Develop conference budget. Estimate registration dates and costs. (Responsibility: General Chair, Local Chairs, and Priscilla)
* Making sure that there is sufficient room capacity for the workshop days.

=== General chair's report (Antal van den Bosch) ===

The general chair has been managing and helping out with issues of several magnitudes.

Questions that have come up and that require the opinion / decision of the ACL exec:

* how to implement industry involvement in the student (‘recruitment’) lunch?
* do we want publications to be available in XML format as in 2014?
* will the proceedings be published online or also be transmitted on USB stick? Will the local wifi be powerful enough to handle people querying and downloading online proceedings?
* the publication chairs will draw up a plan and budget request for student helpers for paper checking.

=== PC chairs report (acl16_pc_chairs@aclweb.org) - Katrin Erk, Noah Smith ===

The PC chairs have been acting on the following items, most recent at the top:

* working on updates to the review forms (hoping to converge soon)
* preparing tools to load-balance reviewers if the area distribution of papers is different from what area chairs expected
* invited two plenary speakers -- Mark Steedman and Amber Boydstun -- both accepted
* formed best paper award committee
* review/decision timeline is set, including TACL accept-by date
* call for papers is public
* area chairs selected, each area has its slate of reviewers

=== Local chairs report (acl16_local_chairs@aclweb.org) - Valia Kordoni, Markus Egg, Kostadin Cholakov ===

The ACL website has been being updated promptly and constantly by Kostadin Cholakov by request from the other chair teams.

Contracts for the social event will be signed in the next couple of weeks maximum.

Poster space has been adjusted in collaboration with the Program Chairs, Graeme Hirst and Priscilla Rasmussen.

Local organizer Valia Kordoni is the local sponsorship chair. The sponsorship booklet for ACL 2016 is now ready for attracting (local) sponsors.

We have a PCO, con gressa, where Ms. Delia Lemke is the main contact.

Contracts have been signed with Humboldt University, con gressa, the Maritim Hotel (for the poster session), and for blocks of rooms at four nearby hotels.

Rooms for the workshops have been allocated.

=== Publication chairs report (acl16_pub_chairs@aclweb.org) - Yannick Versley, Hai Zhao ===

Work has focused on paper template development. The chairs assume that the ACL-2016 proceedings will not be published on USB stick.

A LaTeX template for ACL-2016 has been devised, including an easy switch between the submission version (with line numbering) and camera-ready version. Minor tweaks and optimizations added. The style files are now available on the ACL-2016 website.

Both chairs can recruit students for paper checking and will develop a plan (and budget request) for this task.

The chairs have confirmed workshop camera-ready deadlines.

=== Workshop chairs report (acl16_workshop_chairs@aclweb.org) - Jun Zhao, Sabine Schulte im Walde ===

==== Joint Call-for-Workshop-Proposals (ACL/NAACL/EMNLP) ====

In coordination with the NAACL and the EMNLP workshop chairs for 2016,
we set up a joint call for workshop proposals and distributed it twice
(8/4 weeks before the proposal deadline) to Linguist List, Corpora
List, SIGIR, SIGSEM, ACL web member portal, acl16-web, and
naacl16-web. The call was also posted on the NAACL 2016 and the ACL
2016, which were up already.

The six co-chairs were
- NAACL-2016 (Radu Soricut, Adrià de Gispert)
- ACL-2016 (Sabine Schulte im Walde, Jun Zhao)
- EMNLP-2016 (Annie Louise, Greg Kondrak)

==== Capacities of ACL/NAACL/EMNLP ====

We checked the number and sizes of the rooms that will be available
for the workshop days. ACL contracted a large number of rooms with
various sizes, but the number of participants is restricted
(minimum/maximum of 400/600 participants per day).

==== Integration of co-located CL conferences into workshop organisation ====

An extensive discussion took place about which CL conferences should
be co-located with which ACL event (ACL/NAACL/EMNLP) in 2016. There is
a wiki page about the special status of some CL conferences, and how
their choice of locations should be handled:
http://aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.php?title=SIG_Creation_Guidelines. According
to no. 14 on that page, larger SIG-related workshops (>100
participants) should send pre-approval requests to the ACL Exec
Committee by February 1st of the year PRIOR to the year for which the
workshop is requested. Effectively, the largest CL conferences have
taken turns over the years to pick their venue first.

The conferences are organisationally treated as workshops, because
they need to be taken into account regarding room and participant
issues. Regarding their deadlines, softconf accounts, proceedings,
etc. they however work on their own.

We gathered a list of potentially large workshops: CoNNL, *SEM, WMT,
BioNLP, checked the numbers and participants from previous years (with
Priscilla's help), and the room capacities at ACL/NAACL/EMNLP 2016.
It was decided by the six co-chairs that CoNNL and *SEM should be
co-located with ACL; both had asked for that venue and could be
confirmed. We asked them for a light-weighted proposal regarding
organisational issues (number of participants, number of posters,
contacts, shared task, etc.).

==== Workshop proposals: evaluation and selection ====

We collected the proposals in a spread sheet, taking notes about the
workshop length, the expected number of attendees, the organisers, the
contact, the prefered venue(s), the number of past editions, and the
shared tasks.

Each of the six co-chairs ranked half of the proposals (such that each
proposal received three evaluations) on a 4-point scale regarding
- description and motivation
- relevance to the community
- organising team and program committee
- expected impact
- overall judgment

Some statistics: In total, we received 61 workshop proposals
(excluding CoNLL and *SEM), and we accepted 37 workshop proposals +
CoNLL and *SEM (total 39), acceptance rate 37/59 = 62%. Out of the 37
accepted proposals, 28 of them had at least one previous edition (not
necessarily at ACL conferences). Out of the 23 rejected proposals, 10
of them had at least one previous edition. Out of 14 SIG proposals, 2
were rejected.

Except for the large conferences/workshops mentioned above (CoNNL, *SEM, WMT),
all other workshops were restricted to one day this time,
to allow for a variety of workshop topics, and to take into account
the large number of submissions.

We set up an accept/reject letter and distributed the notifications
over the six of us. We also set up a letter to respond to workshop
organisers who were disappointed about our decisions (rejection;
shortage of days). After confirmations from all workshop organisers,
we announced the workshops for ACL, NAACL and EMNLP on Corpora List
and the conference web sites. At this point, the six co-chairs
separated into the ACL/NAACL/EMNLP co-chairs.

==== Organisation of ACL workshops so far ====

(Nov 11, 2015)
We sent a mail to all workshop organisers to welcome them and announce
the ACL, NAACL and EMNLP workshops.

(Dec 12, 2015)
The workshop organisers have been asked to address Katrin Erk, who
offered to set up the softconf accounts.

(Dec 14, 2015)
The workshop organisers have been reminded of the common workshop
dates.

(Dec 14, 2015)
The workshop organisers have been asked to send their web site to
Kostadin Cholakov.

(Dec 16, 2015)
The exact workshop days have been decided and announced to the
workshop organisers.

(Dec 21, 2015)
The workshop schedule has been announced to the organisers, based on
Priscilla's experience: typical start-time is 9am, typical end-time is
5-5:30pm, morning break is 10:30-11am and afternoon break is 3:30-4pm.

(Dec 21, 2015)
The workshop organisers were asked to send us information regarding
posters. We are still collecting this information.

(to be solved)
The workshops were selected such that the number of participants
should not go beyond 600 per workshop day, but our estimate is only
based on the estimates of the workshop organisers. Valia and Priscilla
are discussing about how to ensure the contracted number of
participants per day.

=== Tutorial chairs (acl16_tutorial_chairs@aclweb.org) - Alexandra Birch, Willem Zuidema ===

Tutorials are on track. A first call was posted in September; a second around New Year. It was also published on the ACL member portal, the ACL and NAACL 2016 websites.

There were 32 tutorials submitted to the tutorial joint call. Many tutorials had a very strong preference for ACL, both because of its reputation and its location. A few people also had visa restrictions. We therefore had a large number of excellent tutorials to choose from and in the end 8 tutorials were selected:

* Neural machine translation
* Semantic Representations of Word Senses and Concepts
* NLP Approaches to Computational Argumentation
* Multimodal Learning and Reasoning
* MetaNet:Repository, Identification System, and Applications
* Game Theory and Natural Language: origin, evolution and processing
* Understanding Short Texts
* Computer Aided Translation

The organizers still need to do:
* Get abstract and outline for putting in the ACL proceedings.
* Updating the ACL website with Tutorial information.
* Deciding on rooms and time slots for the tutorials.
* Publishing the tutorial materials for the attendees.

=== Demonstration chairs (acl16_demonstration_chairs@aclweb.org) - Sameer Pradhan, Marianna Apidianaki ===

The demonstration call is on track. The first call was sent out at the end of November. 38 reviewers are recruited at this point.

=== Student Research Workshop chairs (acl16_studentworkshop@aclweb.org) - Will Roberts, Tao Lei, He He ===

Faculty Advisors to the SRW: Yang Liu, Chris Biemann, Gosse Bouma

A splendid group of people have been recruited to serve on the student workshop program committee. The SRW website is finalized in January (https://sites.google.com/site/aclsrw2016/committee). The call will be sent out in January.

=== Publicity chair: Barbara Plank ===

Barbara Plank took on the Publicity Chair position at the beginning of the new year. Barbara will collaborate with the local chairs on press attention, and will work on the visibility of ACL-2016 and its calls within and outside the ACL community.

An ACL-2016 Facebook account (https://www.facebook.com/Acl2016/ - 239 likes on January 17) and Twitter account (@acl2016 - 148 followers on January 17) have been set up.
ChrisManninghttps://www.aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.php?title=2016Q1_Reports:_ACL_2016&diff=710852016Q1 Reports: ACL 20162016-02-24T00:53:08Z
ChrisManning:

should not go beyond 600 per workshop day, but our estimate is only
based on the estimates of the workshop organisers. Valia and Priscilla
are discussing about how to ensure the contracted number of
participants per day.
=== Progress ===

Since the 2015Q1 report:

* We are very pleased to announce that Katrin Erk and Noah Smith accepted our entreaties to be program co-chairs for the conference.
* We have an involved Local Arrangements Committee of 3 people and a PCO, con gressa, where Ms. Delia Lemke is the main contact.
* Contracts have been signed with Humboldt University, con gressa, the Maritim Hotel (for the poster session), and for blocks of rooms at four nearby hotels.
* The local organizers, supported by the PCO and their web designer have created an attractive website for the conference. Kostadin Cholakov and Ms Lemke from the PCO are sharing the webmaster duties. The website is hosted on a Humboldt U. server. Initial content still needs to be added to the site before it is announced.
* Local organizer Valia Kordoni will be the local sponsorship chair. She has a good network of contacts in the German IT industry.

=== Upcoming tasks ===

We hope to finish these goals in the next couple of weeks to months:

* Presentation and video of ACL 2016 for presentation at ACL 2015. (Responsibility: Local Chairs.)
* Launching an initial conference website and pointing the reserved domain name http://acl2016.org/ at it. The site still needs content, including preliminary local information and preparing an initial conference announcement. (Responsibility: Local Chairs.)
* We need to select Student Workshop Chair(s) and Faculty Advisor, Publications Chair(s), Tutorial Chair(s), Workshop Chair(s), and Demo Chair(s), Exhibits Coordinator, and Publicity Chair(s) soon. (Responsibility: General Chair.)
* Set up an email address for conference chairs. (Responsibility: General Chair.)
* Publicize ACL 2016 including a Call for Participation. (Responsibility: General Chair & Local Chairs)
* Finalize Program chairs' timetable of calls, paper due dates etc. This is under construction and should be circulated soon. (Responsibility: Program Chairs.)

After that, key tasks are to:
* Develop conference budget. Estimate registration dates and costs. (Responsibility: General Chair, Local Chairs, and Priscilla)
* Create Call for Papers, work on finding Area Chairs and Invited Speakers. (Responsibility: Program Chairs.)

The sponsorship booklet for ACL 2016 is now ready for attracting (local) sponsors.

==== Joint Call-for-Workshop-Proposals (ACL/NAACL/EMNLP) ====

==== Capacities of ACL/NAACL/EMNLP ====

Except for the large conferences/workshops mentioned above (CoNNL,
*SEM, WMT), all other workshops were restricted to one day this time,
to allow for a variety of workshop topics, and to take into account
the large number of submissions.

We set up an accept/reject letter and distributed the notifications
over the six of us. We also set up a letter to respond to workshop
organisers who were disappointed about our decisions (rejection;
shortage of days).

In the last report, we reported the selection of Humboldt University to host ACL 2016. We thank the local organizers for preparing a fantastic bid and Humboldt University for their generous support of the bid. The proposed location is in the central campus buildings of Humboldt University, which are very well situated with respect to the Berlin city center. The dates are: 7-12 August 2016.

Since that report:

* We are very pleased to report that Antal van den Bosch accepted our entreaties to be general chair for the conference.
* In early July 2014, Graeme Hirst, Priscilla Rasmussen and Antal van den Bosch visited Humboldt U. and met with the local organizers. Together, they made good progress on working out the shape of a contract with con gressa, the Berlin-based professional conference organizer (PCO). They made good progress on a contract with Humboldt U., and settled on a nearby hotel with enough space for our poster session. They developed a shortlist of hotels for room blocks, and decided that boats on the Spree River should be workable for a social event, whatever precise shape it takes.
* Subsequently, between October 2014 and January 2015, the treasurer, Graeme Hirst or his representative have signed contracts with Humboldt University, con gressa (the PCO), the Maritim Hotel (for the poster session), and for blocks of rooms at four nearby hotels.
* The local organizers have started creating the website for the conference, supported by the PCO and their web designer. Local Organizing Committee member Kostadin Cholakov and Ms Lemke from the PCO will share the webmaster duties. The website will be hosted on a Humboldt U. server.

The call for bids was first distributed in summer 2013 and the final call for bids was distributed in December 2013. The deadline for the notification to submit proposals was January 15, 2014. By this date, we had received 4 notifications of intention to submit a bid, and one other site was still considering whether to submit a bid.

Since that date, one intent to bid has been withdrawn. Nevertheless, overall, the hope is that we are in a good position to have multiple competitive bids. The next steps in the schedule (coming up soon!) are:

* March 1, 2014 - Draft proposals due
* Through March, 2014 - Feedback to bidders
* Apr 15, 2014 - Final bids due
* May 15, 2014 - Bid selected
* Second half of May - get selected bidder to set up rudimentary website
* Winning bid announced at ACL 2014 in Baltimore
* Discuss selection of general chair at ACL 2014
ChrisManninghttps://www.aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.php?title=2014Q3_Reports:_ACL_2016&diff=24202014Q3 Reports: ACL 20162014-06-12T09:24:35Z
ChrisManning:

ACL 2016 is scheduled as a joint ACL and EACL conference in Europe/Middle East/Africa. The venue has now been selected.

=== Coordinating Committee ===

The initial conference coordinating committee was:

* Stephen Clark, EACL chair <sc609@cl.cam.ac.uk>
* Caroline Sporleder, EACL secretary <secretary@eacl.org>
* Mike Rosner, EACL treasurer <treasurer@eacl.org>
* Lluís Màrquez, EACL chair-elect <lluism@lsi.upc.edu>
* Christopher Manning, ACL past president in 2016 <manning@stanford.edu>
* Drago Radev, ACL secretary <radev@umich.edu>
* Graeme Hirst, ACL treasurer <gh@cs.toronto.edu>
* Jian Su, ACL information officer <sujian@i2r.a-star.edu.sg>
* Priscilla Rasmussen, ACL business manager <acl@aclweb.org>

The committee membership needs to be updated for the changes in Exec membership. We added as an observer this year, taking up a committee slot next year:

* Hermann Ney, ACL exec member <ney@informatik.rwth-aachen.de>

The committee email list address is: acl16cc@aclweb.org .
The domain name http://acl2016.org/ has been reserved (but not yet populated).

=== Progress ===

Since the last report, both the deadline for initial and final bids has passed. For both, we received three full bids.
The committee provided encouraging and useful feedback to all bidders on their initial bids, and then discussed and carefully evaluated the final bids. There were multiple good bids, but in the end the decision was made to accept the bid from Humboldt University for holding ACL 2016 in Berlin. This was based on the very satisfactory nature of the bid, the great response to all our questions and needs for information and clarification, and the fact that it was the most economical proposal presented (in terms of the cost to members for holding the conference there). We thank Humboldt University for their generous support of the bid. The proposed location is in the central campus buildings of Humboldt University, which are very well situated with respect to the Berlin city center. The proposed dates are: 7-12 August 2016.

The important steps in the schedule for the next 6 months are:

* June 2014 - Choose general chair for the conference. We have begun with generating potential candidates (ACL 16 coordinating committee)
* June 2014 - Start creation of work plan (local chair)
* June 2014 - Plan site visit (ACL office + local chair + coordinating committee)
* Dec 2014 - Select program chair(s) (coordinating committee)
* Dec 2014 - Select other chairs (general chair)
ChrisManninghttps://www.aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.php?title=2014Q3_Reports:_ACL_2016&diff=24012014Q3 Reports: ACL 20162014-06-10T15:49:28Z
ChrisManning: Write ACL 2016 report

=== Coordinating Committee ===

The initial conference coordinating committee was:

* Stephen Clark, EACL chair <sc609@cl.cam.ac.uk>
* Caroline Sporleder, EACL secretary <secretary@eacl.org>
* Mike Rosner, EACL treasurer <treasurer@eacl.org>
* Lluís Màrquez, EACL chair-elect <lluism@lsi.upc.edu>
* Christopher Manning, ACL past president in 2016 <manning@stanford.edu>
* Drago Radev, ACL secretary <radev@umich.edu>
* Graeme Hirst, ACL treasurer <gh@cs.toronto.edu>
* Jian Su, ACL information officer <sujian@i2r.a-star.edu.sg>
* Priscilla Rasmussen, ACL business manager <acl@aclweb.org>

The committee membership needs to be updated for the changes in Exec membership. We added as an observer this year, taking up a committee slot next year:

* Hermann Ney, ACL exec member <ney@informatik.rwth-aachen.de>

The committee email list address is: acl16cc@aclweb.org .
The domain name http://acl2016.org/ has been reserved (but not yet populated).

=== Progress ===

Since the last report, both the deadline for initial and final bids has passed. For both, we received three full bids:

* Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany (Markus Egg and Valia Kordoni <evangelia.kordoni@anglistik.hu-berlin.de>)
* TU Darmstadt, Germany ("Prof. Dr. Iryna Gurevych" <gurevych@ukp.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de> and Michael Matuschek <matuschek@ukp.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de>)
* Yandex, initially for either Moscow or St. Petersburg, Russia, then proposing the latter (Alexey Baytin <baytin@yandex-team.ru>, Pavel Serdyukov <pavser@yandex-team.ru>, Irina Galinskaya <galinskaya@yandex-team.ru>)

* Dec 2014 - Select program chair(s) (coordinating committee)
* Dec 2014 - Select other chairs (general chair)
ChrisManninghttps://www.aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.php?title=2014Q1_Reports:_ACL_2016&diff=21562014Q1 Reports: ACL 20162014-02-16T05:58:19Z
ChrisManning:

The call for bids was first distributed in summer 2013 and the final call for bids was distributed in December 2013. The deadline for the notification to submit proposals was January 15, 2014. By this date, we had received 4 notifications of intention to submit a bid:

* Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany (Valia Kordoni <evangelia.kordoni@anglistik.hu-berlin.de> and Markus Egg)
* TU Darmstadt, Germany ("Prof. Dr. Iryna Gurevych" <gurevych@ukp.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de> and Michael Matuschek <matuschek@ukp.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de>)
* Yandex, either Moscow or St. Petersburg, Russia (Alexey Baytin <baytin@yandex-team.ru>, Pavel Serdyukov <pavser@yandex-team.ru>, Irina Galinskaya <galinskaya@yandex-team.ru>)
* New York University, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (Nizar Habash <habash@ccls.columbia.edu>)

and one other site was still considering whether to submit a bid (DFKI/Uni. Saarbrücken, Saarbrücken, Germany).

Since that date, the intent to bid by New York University, Abu Dhabi has been withdrawn. Nevertheless, overall, the hope is that we are in a good position to have multiple competitive bids. The next steps in the schedule (coming up soon!) are:

* March 1, 2014 - Draft proposals due
* Through March, 2014 - Feedback to bidders
* Apr 15, 2014 - Final bids due
* May 15, 2014 - Bid selected
* Second half of May - get selected bidder to set up rudimentary website
* Winning bid announced at ACL 2014 in Baltimore
* Discuss selection of general chair at ACL 2014
ChrisManninghttps://www.aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.php?title=2014Q1_Reports:_ACL_2016&diff=21552014Q1 Reports: ACL 20162014-02-16T05:29:14Z
ChrisManning:

ACL 2016 - report by Christopher Manning.

In 2016 there will be a joint ACL and EACL conference in Europe/Middle East/Africa. Initial steps towards the organization of the conference have begun.

We have set up the conference coordinating committee:
Stephen Clark, EACL chair <sc609@cl.cam.ac.uk>
Caroline Sporleder, EACL secretary <secretary@eacl.org>
Mike Rosner, EACL treasurer <treasurer@eacl.org>
Lluís Màrquez, EACL chair-elect <lluism@lsi.upc.edu>
Christopher Manning, ACL past president in 2016 <manning@stanford.edu>
Drago Radev, ACL secretary <radev@umich.edu>
Graeme Hirst, ACL treasurer <gh@cs.toronto.edu>
Jian Su, ACL information officer <sujian@i2r.a-star.edu.sg>
Priscilla Rasmussen, ACL business manager <acl@aclweb.org>.

The committee has an email list address: acl16cc@aclweb.org .

There is a call for bids, and an updated local expenses template, which is ready for distribution (as below). We will start to make initial contact with potential bidders at ACL 2013.

For the next steps of the process, we will follow the guidelines
http://aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.php?title=Conference_planning_schedule . For the next half year or so, it is most important to contact potential organisers, to ensure that we will have a number of promising bids to choose from.

Call for Bids
ACL 2016

54th Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics

The Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) invites proposals to host the 54th Annual Meeting of the ACL, to be held in Europe, the Middle East or Africa (EMEA) in June, July, or August 2016.

At this time, we seek preliminary draft proposals from prospective bidders in EMEA. Promising bidders will be asked to provide additional information for the final selection.

The ACL 2016 Coordinating Committee, made up of members of the Executive Committee of the ACL and representatives of European Chapter of the ACL (EACL), will select the General Chair and the Program Committee Co-Chairs for the conference. Draft proposals should identify a Local Arrangements Chair, who will work with the General Chair and the Coordinating Committee to develop a detailed plan and budget.

To facilitate conference organization, bidders may delegate many tasks of their choice to a Professional Conference Organizer and/or to the ACL Office (Priscilla Rasmussen). Handy bid guidelines, including expense and task list templates and additional useful links are provided at: http://aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.php?title=Bid_Guidelines . The template for local expenses is available here: http://ftp.cs.toronto.edu/pub/gh/ACL-conference-bid-template-Rev-2013-07-17.xls

Bid Highlights: Draft proposals should include information on the following:

Location (accessibility; conference venue, e.g., hotel or university; accommodation; dining options)
Proposed dates. Religious and local national holidays should be avoided, as much as possible.
Local arrangements team (chair/co-chair, committee, volunteer labor, registration handling; describing any experience the team has had in organizing previous conferences and the number of participants at those conferences)
Local Computational Linguistics community
Meeting venues (space for sessions, tutorials, workshops, posters, exhibits, demos, small meetings and registration)
High-speed, all-ports-open, easy-to-use internet access
Audiovisual equipment
Catering, including breaks, receptions, banquet and entertainment (traditionally, dancing for participants at the banquet)
Local sponsorships
Local expenses estimates spreadsheet (using the template provided, link above)

Evaluation: Proposals will be evaluated according to the following criteria (unordered):

Experience of local arrangements team
Local CL community support
Local government and industry support
Accessibility and attractiveness of proposed site
Suitability of proposed dates
Adequacy of conference and exhibit facilities for the anticipated number of registrants
Adequacy of residence accommodations and food services in a range of price categories and close to the conference facilities
Adequacy of expense projections
Geographical balance with regard to ACL meetings in EMEA in the decade prior to 2016 (ACL 2007 Prague, ACL 2010 Uppsala, ACL 2013 Sofia)

Important Dates:
November 1, 2013 - Final Call for Bids
January 15, 2014 - Notify intention to submit proposal
March 1, 2014 - Draft proposals due
Through March, 2014 - Feedback to bidders
Apr 15, 2014 - Final bids due
May 15, 2014 - Bid selected

The selected location for ACL 2016 will be announced at the ACL 2014 conference (Baltimore, USA, June 22-27, 2014).
