1. EACL 2009
-------------
This will take place in Athens from March 30th--April 3rd. The chairs
for EACL 2009 have now been chosen:

Under the new arrangements for conference sponsorship, Philipp and
Josef are also sponsorship chairs for ACL 2009 and NAACL 2009.
Current state of progress is as follows:
o Contracts between NCSR (the host institution) and BTOB
(professional events organiser) and between BTOB and Megaron
Mousikis (the venue) are now signed. We are yet to sign the
contract between ACL and NCSR! But this is imminent, and the
details of the contract are basically finalised.
o The call for papers for the main programme was issued about 8
weeks ago.
o The joint call for workshop proposals (among ACL, EACL and
NAACL 2009) was issued at the beginning of April.
o The website is up (www.eacl2009.gr)
o A draft call for tutorial proposals is now written. The final
draft will be issued in about 2 weeks.
o A price list for various levels of EACL sponsorship are now
fixed, as part of a larger package of sponsorship prices that
include EACL and NAACL conferences too.
o The style files are finalised.
I will make a site visit to Athens in October, to look at the
conference, reception and banqueting facilities.
2. EACL Officers
----------------------------
There are no personnel changes on the EACL board this year. The next
big changes will be in January 2008.
3. EACL 2010
-------------
Anette Frank, Giorgio Satta and Mike Rosner represent EACL on the ACL
2010 committee. There were 4 bids in all; 3 of these are still under
consideration.
