I chaired the ACL 2012 Demo track. In this year, thirty-eight researchers accepted our invitation to join the program committee. We publicized and sent out the CFP of demo track through Corpora/Elsnet mailing list and ACL portal about two months before paper submission deadline. We studied and set up the novel demo paper review criteria, where the system and basic technical innovativeness are important. By system innovativeness, we mean the system has never been developed before or the system includes novel components or functionalities or applications that have never been done before. System design, paper clarity, system re-implementation effort and comparison are also important.

We received 49 submissions, 29 of which were selected for inclusion in the program after reviewed by three members of the program committee. All the demonstration papers were presented on July 10, 2012, at the 50th Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics, held in Jeju, Republic of Korea.
