The SIG currently has 121 members and it still operated under the founding officers.
The main activity of the SIG MT was the organization of the 8th Workshop on Statistical Machine Translation, which includes two official shared tasks, one for machine translation and a new task for quality estimation methods. We also continued the shared task on evaluation metrics as inofficial shared task under new management. The workshop will take place in August in association with the main ACL conference.
The second workshop organized under the umbrella of SIG MT is the 7th Workshop on Syntax, Semantics and Structure in Statistical Translation, which will took place in June in association with the NAACL conference.
