SIGDIAL 2017 Conference: Second Call for Special Sessions
http://www.sigdial.org/workshops/conference18/

Special Session Submission Deadline: March 1, 2017
Special Session Notification: March 10, 2017

The SIGDIAL organizers welcome the submission of special session proposals. A SIGDIAL special session is the length of a regular session at the conference; may be organized as a poster session, a panel session, or an oral presentation session; and will be held on the last day of the conference. Special sessions may, at the discretion of the SIGDIAL organizers, be held as parallel sessions.

The papers submitted to special sessions are handled by special session organizers, but for the submitted papers to be in the SIGDIAL proceedings, they have to undergo the same review process as regular papers. The reviewers for the special session papers will be taken from the SIGDIAL program committee, while taking into account the suggestions of the session organizers.

We welcome special session proposals on any topic of interest to the discourse and dialogue communities.

Proposals for a Joint Special Session with SemDial 2017:
SIGDIAL 2017 will be co-located with SemDial 2017, the 21st Workshop on the Semantics and Pragmatics of Dialogue. SIGDIAL and SemDial will run concurrently on August 15-17. As part of the co-location of these events, there will be one joint special session that is part of both SIGDIAL and SemDial.

All accepted special sessions will be part of the SIGDIAL program. Proposers of SIGDIAL special sessions may indicate if they would like their proposal to be considered as a joint session with SemDial. Proposed joint sessions will be reviewed by both the SIGDIAL and SemDial organizers.

Submissions:
Those wishing to organize a special session should prepare a two-page proposal containing:
a summary of the topic of the special session;
a list of organizers and sponsors;
a list of people who may submit and participate in the session;
a requested format (poster/panel/oral session);
whether the session should be considered as a joint session with SemDial.

These proposals should be sent to conference[at]sigdial.org by the special session proposal deadline. Special session proposals will be reviewed jointly by the general and program co-chairs of SIGDIAL. The SIGDIAL and SemDial organizers may select one of the proposed special sessions to serve as a joint special session for SIGDIAL and SemDial.

Dates and Location of SIGDIAL 2017 and SemDial 2017:
The 18th Annual SIGdial Meeting on Discourse and Dialogue (SIGDIAL 2017) and the 21st Workshop on the Semantics and Pragmatics of Dialogue (SemDial 2017 “SaarDial”) will be co-located and run concurrently on August 15-17 at Saarland University in Saarbrücken, Germany.

The SIGdial venue provides a regular forum for the presentation of cutting edge research in both discourse and dialogue.

The SemDial Workshops aim at bringing together researchers working on the semantics and pragmatics of dialogue in fields such as formal semantics and pragmatics, artificial intelligence, computational linguistics, psychology, and neural science.
