Academic genealogy is the genealogy of people with academic degrees, based on graduate supervisors being 'parents' and their graduate students being 'children'. For people in Computational Linguistics and Artificial Intelligence, two relevant places to look are The Mathematics Genealogy Project and The AI Genealogy Project.
