Talk:Morphology software for English
Title
The title of this page seems to have morphed several times. At one time I believe it was "Morphology software", which is reasonably descriptive. It is now "Morphology software for English", which is certainly not descriptive of its current content. If we want a separate page for morph software for English (and presumably for other more interesting languages :-)), that's fine, but that's not what this page seems to be. And we need a general page on morphology software!
However, the system won't let me move this page, because there is supposedly already a page named "Morphology software". But that page redirects to another one, "Morphology software (English)", which is empty.
In sum, there's a problem, and I don't know how to fix it. We have three pages: 1) Morphology software 2) Morphology software (English) 3) Morphology software for English The first redirects to the second, which is empty. The second and third have nearly identical titles, which is not descriptive of the third (nor of the empty second).
How do we fix this??? Mcswell 03:11, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- See List of resources by language, Resources for English, and Multilingual resources. I favor keeping "Morphology software for English" and moving any links that aren't purely English into "Multilingual morphology software". --Pdturney 06:37, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- OK, I see it's been moved, which fixes the title problem. However, there are plenty of generic morphology packages (including finite state tools). Is there no page for that? The morphology software page ought to link there.
- Why not go ahead and do what you think makes the most sense? --Pdturney 02:03, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
