The Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2) is partnering with Kaggle to host a competition aimed at automatically answering 8th grade level science exam questions. AI2 is offering a top prize of $50,000 to the team that can achieve the highest score on our test question set -- this is a great opportunity for students working in fields like natural language processing or machine learning to try their hand at answering a large collection of multiple-choice questions using automated systems they construct and train over the course of the competition.

Abstract Meaning Representation Parsing is a new shared task at
SemEval this year. Given a sentence of plain English text, systems
will attempt to produce an accurate semantic interpretation, as
represented by the AMR standard.
Overview
========
Abstract Meaning Representation (AMR) is a compact, readable,
whole-sentence semantic annotation. Annotation components include
entity identification and typing, PropBank semantic roles, individual
entities playing multiple roles, entity grounding via wikification, as
well as treatments of modality, negation, etc. With the recent public

RANLP (Recent Advances in Natural Language Processing) has established itself over the years as one of the most influential and competitive NLP conferences. The event is held biennially and grew out of the International summer schools "Contemporary topics in Computational Linguistics", which were organised for many years as training events. Selected papers from most RANLP conferences have been regularly published in a volume as part of John Benjamins’ series “Current Trends of Linguistic Research”.

In its 2015 edition, the Extra-Propositional Aspects of Meaning (ExProM) workshop aims at bringing together
scientists working on ExProM within computational linguistics. The goal is to attract researchers interested in
theoretical frameworks, annotation schemas, modeling and implementing real systems, as well as analyzing the
impact of ExProM in natural language processing applications. The workshop also aims at building a bridge
between theoretical and computational linguistics. In particular, it will address these topics, although it
will also cover related topics:

Announcement:
*SEM: First Joint Conference on Lexical and Computational Semantics
Collocated with NAACL-HLT 2012
June 7-8, Montreal, Canada
We are pleased to announce that the ACL special interest groups SIGLEX and SIGSEM are organising a joint conference on lexical and computational semantics: *SEM
The main goal of *SEM is to provide a stable forum for the growing number of NLP researchers working on different aspects of semantic processing, which has been scattered over a large array of small workshops and conferences.
