Paul Thompson is a Research Assoiciate in the National Centre for Text Mining (NaCTeM), School of Computer Science, University of Manchester. He has a fift class BSC (Hons) in Computational Lingustics and an MPhil in Computation for the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). His main research interests lie in Natural Language Processing, in particular information extraction and corpus annotation. Since 2001, he has been involved in the development of resources and user interfaces for a number of NLP systems. Since 2007, his work has been largely focussed on biomedical text mining and, most recencly, applying text minning techniques to historical medical text. He has co-authored around 50 publications.
