The ACL currently has 14 SIGs, and a new SIG on Machine Translation is in the proposal stages. In 2008, SIGBioMed was established, and SIGMEDIA was closed.
All but SIGDAT are now compliant with ACL's SIG Guidelines (for details see SIG Compliance). The 2008 reports for all SIGs are linked from the compliance page (except for SIGDAT and SIGGEN which did not submit reports).
Most SIGs have held elections during 2007 and 2008, except for new SIGs and for SIGANN, SIGGEN, SIGHAN and SIGLEX, where elections may be overdue.
SIGDAT has submitted a proposed constitution for approval by the exec.
