The main duties of the ACL Equity Director are to facilitate initiatives to increase the diversity of the ACL membership, and to ensure that equity standards are maintained across the entire ACL. More specifically, the duties of the Equity Director are as follows:
- Develop and lead initiatives to increase and sustain diversity in the membership, as well as support existing initiatives
- Run an inclusion and demographics survey annually and report the results
- Stay current on diversity issues
- Be the point of contact on diversity issues among the membership, the EquiCL BIG, the Diversity & Inclusion Chairs for individual *ACL conferences, the ACL Exec, and the ACL Professional Conduct Committee.
- Work with the Publicity Director to ensure that opportunities within ACL are broadly publicized
- Work with the Exec to monitor the demographics and resolve issues related to equitable treatment in awards, reviewing, and leadership positions
