2021Q3 Reports: CL Journal Editor

During the past six months, the CL Journal received 79 first submissions (of all paper types). The average time from submission to first decision for regular papers (excluding desk rejects) is 76 days.

The published CL papers of the last 4 issues (September 2020 to June 2021) comprise 21 regular papers and 3 book reviews. The total number of pages of these four issues is 871.

Since March 2020, CL Journal papers are eligible for presentation at one of the *ACL/EMNLP conferences. CL submissions continue to undergo single-blind reviewing like a typical journal.

There are two categories of submissions to CL Journal:

1. Submissions containing new material not previously published: The authors of these submissions, once accepted, are given the option to present their accepted papers at one of the *ACL/EMNLP conferences. So far, almost all authors have chosen to present their accepted CL papers.

2. Submission which are extended version of past conference paper(s), or other types of papers (survey papers, squibs, last words articles): These submissions will not be presented at conferences.
