2013Q3 Reports: SIGSLPAT

Elections for new officers were held in October 2012. The newly elected officers are:

President: Annalu Waller, University of Dundee
Vice president: Matt Huenerfauth, The City University of New York
Secretary-treasurer: Frank Rudzicz, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and University of Toronto
Student board member: Karl Wiegand, Northeastern University

We have over 70 members on our membership list, and our website can be found at: slpat.org. Since becoming a SIG, we have held our third successful workshop at NAACL 2012 in Montreal, co-located with NAACL HLT 2012 and have been involved in other workshops as described in last year's Q3 report.

In early 2013 we became a Special Interest Group of the International Speech Communication Association. This will facilitate our next flagship workshop, SLPAT 2013, which is a satellite event at Interspeech 2013 and will occur on 21-22 August 2013 in Grenoble France, co-located with the 1st Workshop on Affective Social Speech Signals. We are also involved in the Second Workshop on Predicting and Improving Text Readability for Target Reader Populations, co-located with ACL 2013 in Sofia, Bulgaria on 8 August 2013.
