SIGDAT, the ACL special interest group on Linguistic data and corpus-based approaches to NLP will be holding its annual conference, EMNLP-2017, in Copenhagen, Denmark from September 7–11, 2017.

EMNLP is being held as a stand-alone conference with 2 days of workshops and tutorials preceding the main conference. More information about the conference can be found at http://emnlp2017.net/
We plan to hold EMNLP 2018 as a stand-alone conference October or November of 2018. Pascale Fung, the SIGDAT President is advocating for holding the conference in China. We received a bid from Professor Maosong Sun (Tsinghua University) to hold EMNLP 2018 in Shenzhen China on 2-6 November 2018. The conference will be jointly organized by the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Technology and System, the Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University, and the Chinese Information Processing Society of China (CIPS). The bid still needs to be properly vetted. ACL treasurer Graeme Hirst and ACL business officer Priscilla Rasmussen reviewed the costs and flagged several items that we need to follow up on. We need to schedule a site visit ASAP as well.
