Summary

SIGREP is the ACL Special Interest Group on Representation Learning. It seeks to promote research on representation learning in Natural Language Processing, specifically methods for inferring representations from data, as well as studying evaluation and transferability of representations, and organises the annual ACL workshop on Representation Learning for NLP (Repl4NLP).

Membership

Currently, SIGREP has 1233 members.

Board

SIGREP currently has the following officers:

  • President: Isabelle Augenstein
  • Secretary: Karl Moritz Hermann

In addition, there is a Senior Organising Committee (SOC), which is responsible for recruiting and selecting organising committee members for SIG events such as RepL4NLP, and advising them during the organisation of the event.

The next SIGREP board election is due to take place in October 2020.

Repl4NLP 2019

The 5th Workshop on Representation Learning for NLP (RepL4NLP) will be hosted by ACL 2020 and held on 9 July 2020. The workshop is being organised by:

  • Emma Strubell
  • Minjoon Seo
  • Hannaneh Hajishirzi

and advised by the SOC.

Keynote speakers will be:

  • Kristina Toutanova, Google Research
  • Ellie Pavlick, Brown University & Google
  • Mike Lewis, Facebook AI Research
  • Evelina Fedorenko, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

At the time of writing, 888 attendees have signed up for attending the workshop, which is up from 370 for 2019 and around 250 for 2018.
