0. The publicity director's appointment has reached its 3rd and final year (we are appointed since July 2019).

1. Social media streamlining. No update. Persistent Twitter accounts are in place and in use, see point 6.

2. Survey on NLP groups and networks is planned to be presented at the business meeting at ACL 2022 in Dublin.

3. Handbook. We continuously do updates on the handbook, and invite new conference publicity chairs to contribute to it.

4. Workshop announcements. Last fall, we collected the list of accepted workshops from the workshop chairs and helped to publicize this information through social media channels. We recommend that future publicity director and deputy are in charge of publishing workshop announcements in collaboration with future *ACL workshop chairs, as not all conference chairs are appointed in fall or websites updated.

5. Two items are still on hold:

  • a launch of an ACL blog post together with the new ACL website; this is delayed.
  • The idea to organize a workshop on publicity and how to present research to a broader audience (this was postponed due to preference for an on-site event). If interest exists and the exec approves, we could look into organizing a half day workshop co-located with ACL 2022, based on (a PhD course we did at ITU)[1] last fall where students wrote blog posts afterwards (we have a speaker who gave an invited guest lecture on "communicating NLP research to a broader audience" and would volunteer, tbc that she is available for next ACL or a later edition).

6. Overview of Social Media presence and number of members. We observe a steady increase in followers/members, except for Instagram (which is only used during on-site conferences and was active last time in 2019).
