Exec Election

There are three opening positions for the exec election of 2022, which include: VP-elect (from Asia-Pacific Rim), treasurer, and member at-large (from EMEA). The ACL nominating committee will nominate the candidates for the positions at the end of July.

Besides the candidates nominated by the nominating committee, we also accept nominations from the floor, which can be sent to the secretary.

The election will take place later in the fall.

Exec Meetings

By convention, the summer exec meeting is an in-person meeting held during the ACL conference. However, since not all exec members went to Dublin to attend the conference in -person, we change the summer exec meeting to an online meeting. The meeting will be in late July or early August.

Business Meeting

As what we did in the past two years, all the ACL exec & exec-plus officers are required to record a short video and upload the video to the conference website. the videos can be viewed before the meeting. The business meeting is scheduled on the second day of the conference, which includes two parts: a 30 minutes Q&A session, and a 60 minutes panel. The theme of the panel this year is “the future of reviewing”, with Panelists: Alane Suhr, Amanda Stent, Graham Neubig, Hal Daume, Hinrich Schuetze, Marie de Marneffe, Preslav Nakov, Yoav Goldberg.

ACL Recognition Dinner

We restored the tradition of recognition dinner in Dublin, which was the first one since the pandemic. 44 guests accepted the invitation to attend the dinner, which is fewer than the pre-pandemic level as expected.

Special Contribution Award

This year, we awarded a special contribution award to Priscilla Rasmussen, who has been serving ACL as the business manager for over 26 years. The special contribution award is not a regular award that is selected by the nominating committee every year. The exec is working on selecting the successor of Priscilla, which will be announced later.
