ACL-IJCNLP-2009 Local Arrangements Chair (Haizhou Li)

Singapore, the culturally and technologically vibrant Garden City of
Asia, is the stage set for the landmark joint conference of the 47th
Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics and the
4th International Joint Conference on Natural Language Processing on
August 2-7, 2009. For the very first time, the ACL and IJCNLP are
jointly organized in one single event. The 2009 Conference on Empirical
Methods in Natural Language Processing (EMNLP) will also be co-located
with ACL-IJCNLP 2009.

3) Updates
-  Dr Keh-Yih Su, the General Chair of ACL-IJCNLP 2009, visited
Singapore on January 5-6, 2008. Dr Su met the Local Organization
Committee and visited all candidate venues for conference.
-  Priscilla Rasmussen, ACL Business Manager, visited Singapore on
January 31 - February 2, 2008. Priscilla met Singapore Tourism Board and
the Local Organization Committee, and visited all candidate venues for
conference and social program. It was decided to host ACL-IJCNLP 2009 in
Suntec Convention Centre and to appoint Meeting Matters to assist in
local logistics.
- The Local Organization Committee has prepared hardcopy brochures,
posters, and other door-gifts to distribute in LREC, ACL and COLING in
2008 to promote ACL-IJCNLP 2009. Softcopy poster is downloadable from
