Subject: [ACL 2017] Submission ID [paperID] - Author Response Period Starts, available until March 15, 2017
Dear [authorContact]: This letter regards the following submission to [acronymYR]: Title: [title] Number: [paperID] Passcode: [passcode] Draft reviews for this submission are now available. You now have the opportunity to respond to these reviews for the next three days, until the end of March 15, 2017 (i.e., GMT -12 AoE). This year we have asked reviewers to specifically itemize questions to you which they feel could influence their scores regarding your submission, in addition to the general review. We have also introduced a facility to allow you to communicate directly to the area chairs overseeing your submission. If you decide to respond to the reviewers' comments, we request that you format your response in THREE parts: 1. One part to address the specific questions raised by reviewers, (Reviewer 1 as R1, etc.). 2. One part to correct general misconceptions of the reviewers. 3. In the separate text box; use only if needed: Contacting ACs directly regarding your submission, in the rare case that there are serious issues regarding the reviews. These can include reviewers who grossly misunderstood the submission, or have made unfair comparisons or requests in their review. Your response should be limited to items such as correcting factual misconceptions in the reviews, and should be concise and clearly address the reviewers' concerns. The length limit for the first two parts is 500 words (combined) and for the direct-to-AC communications, 200 words. You are requested NOT to use the response form to debate the reviewers' subjective opinions regarding the merit of your work. Nor should you try to "correct" your paper in any way - either in terms of its basic technical arguments, or in the presentation of those arguments. Above all, the response facility should not be used to report on new results, obtained since the submission deadline closed. Of course, you are free to write whatever you wish to write. That said, please note that this process is intended to help produce more accurate REVIEWS for your paper. It is not intended to strengthen the arguments in your paper; moreover, your remarks will not lead to changing the reviewers' fundamental perceptions of your work, as reflected in their reviews. If the paper is accepted, you will still have ample opportunity to make revisions, i.e., before sending in your camera-ready copy. To submit a response by the deadline of March 15, 2017, click on the following URI, which will take you to the response form for your submission: [loginURL] We are making this feedback channel available to help improve the quality of the review process.
