2023Q3 Reports: Demo Chairs

The Call for Papers page for the ACL 2023 System demonstration Track is available at https://2023.aclweb.org/calls/system_demonstration/. It describes the submission instructions, requirements and important dates. Following the practice from previous ACL and EMNLP demo sessions, we required a short video of the demo to be uploaded as part of the submission. Reviewing was single blind and the authors were required to mention their names and affiliations in the title page of the paper. Moreover, an ethics section and a Limitations section were also allowed. However, these sections do not count towards the page limit. We received a record number of 155 submissions, of which 58 were selected for inclusion in the program (with an acceptance rate of 37%). The demo chairs selected one best paper and two outstanding papers, which were announced in the ACL 2023 website. All demo papers were presented as posters on dedicated booths at the conference venue, excluding the virtual demo presentations. Especially, given the difficulties to obtain visas to travel to Canada, we received approximately 20% of virtual presentation requests that we accommodated with gathertown posters. We also produced the proceedings for the demo papers following the support from the ACL 2023 main conference publication chairs.
