Membership

SIGANN membership is 144 members.

Officers

After being elected in October 2021, Amir Zeldes (Georgetown University) and Ines Rehbein (Universität Mannheim) continued as President and Secretary respectively.

Committee

The SIGANN Committee is comprised of past and present Program Committee Chairs for SIGANN's annual workshop, the Linguistic Annotation Workshop (LAW). The committee currently includes Claire Bonial, Stefanie Dipper, Annemarie Friedrich, Sophie Henning, Chu-Ren Huang, Jena DC Hwang, Nancy Ide, Lori Levin, Adam Meyers, Antonio Pareja-Lora, Massimo Poesio, Sameer Pradhan, Jakob Prange, Ines Rehbein, Nathan Schneider, Manfred Stede, Katrin Tomanek, Fei Xia, Nianwen Xue, Amir Zeldes, Heike Zinsmeister.

Workshop

The SIG's major activity is the organization of the annual workshop. In 2024 the Eighteenth Linguistic Annotation Workshop (LAW-XVIII) was held in person and in hybrid virtual format in conjunction with EACL 2024 in St. Julian's, on March 22, 2024, by PC chairs Manfred Stede and Sophie Henning. The workshop has received over 43 submissions and featured 20 talks and posters, as detailed on the workshop website:

The special theme for the workshop was "Annotation in the Age of Large Language Models (LLMs)", with an invited talk by Lilja Øvrelid (University of Oslo).
