Dear All,
We are delighted to launch the 2nd Scientific Figure Captioning (SciCap) Challenge --- The final submission date is June 15, 2024!
This shared task calls for researchers in AI, NLP, and CV to build systems that generate captions for all types of scientific figures in arXiv papers. The 2nd SciCap challenge will be hosted at IJCAI 2024.

=== Challenge Overview ===
The challenge consists of two tracks: the Short Caption Track and the Long Caption Track.
- We used the same dataset as the 1st SciCap Challenge. Teams can submit their results for its hidden test set.
- Short Caption Track: A team must submit a result with 30% or more captions that are no longer than the original author-written captions.
- Long Caption Track: A team must submit a result with 30% or more captions that are longer than the original author-written captions.
The winning teams will be determined based on their best human evaluation results from the hidden test set.
