Situated on a breathtaking harbour, Sydney is one of the world's most attractive, exciting and vibrant cities, with stunning attractions, great climate and friendly people that ensure it continues to exceed visitor expectations. Recreation, exploration, adventure and relaxation await in a multicultural city bursting with unique attractions, fine dining, world class accommodation, non-stop shopping, heart racing adventure and a diverse range of entertainment. Coling/ACL 2006 will take place at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australia's largest and premier venue for conferences, exhibitions and special events. The centre is superbly located on the waterfront in Sydney's most popular visitor precinct, Darling Harbour, adjacent to the city's central business district. The centre offers superb views over Darling Harbour and the city skyline as well as world class facilities.
Getting to the Conference Site
The International and Domestic airports are approximately 10 km from the city centre and the Convention Centre – and a taxi ride is about $20 to the City. There’s also a train option – from the airport terminal(s) to the city – details on the CityRail site.
We’d suggest a taxi option to your hotel would be easiest, and after that walking or monorail may be the best way to get around.
During the conference, the 7-day Monorail Pass is a must if you are staying at any of the conference hotels in the precinct, or moving between the Workshops / Tutorial venue (UTS) and the main Conference (Convention Centre). The monorail does its loop every 10 minutes, with the pass you can jump on and off as often as you wish for the 7 days Sunday 16th July through Saturday 22nd July.
