Part B
SHARING (May 31, 2011)
IJCNLP2011 is still in its call-for-papers stage. During the design of the conferences, we have come across several technical issues which are worth sharing with the ACL community:
- we estimated a breakeven point of around 350 attendants and we expected around 400.
- the deadline for paper submission was set (June 2) not long after the notification of other major conferences, e,g, EMNLP (May 20)
- we have adopted the ACL policy to allow multiple submissions, i.e. papers submitted to other conferences are accepted
- it is difficult to secure sponsorship. So far we have 2: one local and one from Singapore; we have been turned down by Baidu, Tencent, and Yahoo. Google is still considering. It would be helpful if ACL members could provide us some pointers.
- we have decided not to publish our proceedings by a commercial publisher so that our papers can be included in the ACL Anthology.
- we had debates on submission by PC and Area chairs and we adopted the EMNLP policy, which permits their submissions and submission by a chair will be handled by another chair to ensure impartiality.
