Elections

Elections for the SIGHAN board were held in Fall 2014 as required by the SIGHAN constitution. Board officers and information officers were elected to a two-year term to complete in December 2016. The full list of officers may be found at the SIGHAN website.

Events

The main action for the SIGHAN community since the new officers' term started in December 2013 is preparing for the "Third CIPS-SIGHAN Joint Conference on Chinese Language Processing (CLP-2014)" <http://www.cipsc.org.cn/clp2014/webpage/en/home_en.htm>. This conference was first held in 2010 and jointly organized by CIPS and SIGHAN. CIPS, the Chinese Information Processing Society of China, is the main association for Natural Language Processing in China. The first CLP was held in Beijing on August 28-29, 2010 as a co-event with COLING 2010. This year the 3rd CLP will be held on October 20-21, 2014 in Wuhan, China, as a co-event with the thirteenth China National Conference on Computational Linguistics(CCL). The conference has bakeoffs on Chinese word segmentation, Chinese spelling check, Parsing, and Personal attribute extraction in Chinese text. The general chairs are Chengqing ZONG, SIGHAN and Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Le SUN, Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The PC chairs are Gina-Anne LEVOW, SIGHAN and University of Washington, and Min ZHANG, SooChow University.
