2017Q1 Reports: Treasurer
ACL Treasurer's report, February 2017
Graeme Hirst
Because of various problems that I detailed in my August 2016 report in getting full financial data for 2015 conferences, including some missing sponsorships, bookkeeping for 2015 was not sent to the accountants until late October 2016, and we were able to submit our IRS return only at the last moment, on 15 November (the deadline for extended extensions). The return was sent to the Exec at the time for information and approval.
Our bookkeepers (Young Associates), Priscilla, and I have now begun the work of reconciling and closing the books for 2016, but it will be some time before the work is complete. We are aiming to have the results ready for in time for our accountants and auditors (Nisivoccia LLP) to file our U.S. IRS and New Jersey returns by the regular unextended deadline of 15 May.
When the work is complete, we will make a full report to the ACL Exec, including the results of our 2016 conferences, and a report to the membership at the business meeting at ACL 2017 in Vancouver.
